King Richard III Visitor Centre

The museum of King Richard III takes you on a tour of the life of King Richard and how his remains were discovered right here in Leicester in 2012. History is brought to life with this interactive tour through animations and artifacts, ending with witnessing the actual burial location where King Richard was discovered. The routes throughout the museum are straight forward and easy to follow, showcasing different events in history as you go along. The staff are very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you may have. The museum is easily accessible, located in the heart of Leicester. There is a café and gift shop on site if you want to take away a souvenir!

National Space Centre

The National Space Centre is the UK’s largest planetarium, and it does not disappoint! If you fancy brushing up on your GCSE Physics, the National Space Centre has a plethora of informative and interactive sessions taking you through space, stars and the solar system. The highlight has to be the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium for a truly stimulating experience. The vivid experience illustrates how it’s like to be an astronaut in space and how they train. There is so much to see and do, make sure you allocate a few hours for the experience!

Abbey Park

For those of you who love nature, Abbey Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the Midlands. It is lovely to visit alone or with a group of people for a nice long walk or a picnic. The views are impeccable throughout the differing seasons, perfect for capturing scenic moments. There are lots of floral displays and woodland, and ponds teeming with birdlife. In the summer, there are more activities to participate in such as use of the paddle boats – great fun for those hot, sunny days.

Social Climbing

For the sporty students, Leicester’s Social Climbing is the perfect activity to test your strength and stamina. Social Climbing is Leicester’s first bouldering wall with over 700sqm of climbing. If you’re a beginner, fear not, there is a comprehensive induction given at the start of every session to equip you with everything you need to know to make the most of your experience. You receive free lockers and shoe hire is reasonably affordable. Definitely an activity to embark upon with your housemates!

Watch Leicester Tigers

For an exhilarating sporting experience, why not attend a Leicester Tigers game at the Welford Road Stadium? Tickets are affordable, the atmosphere is incredible, and you will leave a Leicester Tigers fan for sure! The stadium is a compact ground with easily accessible parking and public transport links. Catering facilities are scattered across the ground with reasonably priced refreshments served in an efficient manner.
